Palmela Windmill
This unique windmill 40 km south of Lisbon, is situated in a commanding position below the 12th century Palmela castle with magnificent views for miles over the countryside far below: the Arr‡bida National Park, the town of Setœbal (7 km away), the beaches of Tro’a and the Atlantic.
Recently restored by its owner to a very high standard, the accommodation is spread over three floors, each one circular in shape, with clever use of attractive cupboards. The front door leads into the well-equipped kitchen/dining room with a shower room adjacent. In the kitchen area there is a glass-fronted wood stove which heats the whole property, making this a good choice for all seasons.
From the ground floor, open sided steps spiral up to the sitting room with a sofa bed and a TV. Stairs then again spiral up to the attractive twin bedroom on the second floor with wonderful views in every direction, one feels as if on top of the world! Outside, the windmill is surrounded by a low walled terrace with an olive grove in the grounds below.
